Thursday, December 27. 2007
Open source & Linux
A Virginia-based company offering radio protocol conversion products for telecom infrastructure has reportedly licensed Enea's soup-to-nuts carrier-grade Linux and high-availability middleware suite. Enea says 4DK will use the "Enea Accelerator Platform" with its "SuperConnectivity" product, apparently aimed at enabling telecom infrastructure to support multiple cellular protocols.

4DK is said to have signed a five-year license agreement with Enea, including hiring Enea Professional Services. Coincidentally, Enea recently expanded its Linux service offering.

N.J. Lawmakers Vote to Ban Death Penalty

Friday, December 14. 2007
smil3y
Ban the death penalty??

You have got to be kidding me ! These human rights panzees need to find something else to focus their attention on. Banning the only thing left in this world that makes any sense is complete nonsense. Its bad enough that a criminal sentenced to death sits on death row for sometimes his entire life! Wasting tax payers money, eating meals fit for a king, getting a college degree....... come on!! What sense does this make?? HELLO?? He was sentenced to DEATH!

What this country needs is a STANDARD death penalty for ALL states. Then the punishment fits the crime. If you are sentenced to the death penalty, then you die, no questions asked. No appeals. No 3 course meals in prison. No college courses. Death, plain and simple. We are building million dollar prisons everyday, to hold worthless animals while the rest of the nations is paying to give these animals a decent life behind prison walls. We need to start hanging criminals in the center of town again!! What happened to this anyway?? Its about time to bring back corporal punishment, a person would think twice about committing a crime if he knew what the punishment was going to be in the end. And, if not? Then the world will be a better place without the idiot. We dont need them. I dont know about you, but I want to see one of these idiots hanging by the neck downtown.

Re-install Grub to hard drive on Ubuntu

Sunday, December 9. 2007
Open source & Linux
This will restore grub if you had it before and was hosed by a windows install. Windows overwrites the MBR so grub doesnt appear anymore, hence, you cannot boot ubuntu any longer.

1. boot an ubuntu or any other live cd

2. open a terminal and type sudo grub

3. enter your root password

4. next type find /boot/grub/stage1

5. it should return something like (hdx,x) with the x being numbers representing your drive, partition.

6. type this in terminal with the x's being output from #4

root (hdx,x)

7. now type setup(hd0)

8. type quit

9. if you got any errors like failed, but not fatal, reboot and try again from #1, worked for me.

**now to find your windows partition, and give it an entry in grub do the following

1. in a terminal type df -h

2. look for windows partition in the output

3. hard drive partitions start from zero so if it said 2 its partition 1, just subtract 1 from whatever it says in output.

4. in terminal type gedit /boot/grub/menu.lst

5. go to the end of the file and look for the last entry showing ubuntu kernels, and add the following after last unbuntu kernel.

6. title windows xp
root (hd0,x)
makeactive
chainloader +1

now remember, the x is the partition windows is on. if it said 2 in output from df -h then put 1 here. if it said 3 then put 2, and so on.

7. save menu.lst, and reboot. when grub starts it should give you a list of os to start, you might have to hit , if it shows too fast, then go back to menu.lst and look for timeout, and change this to a higher number. good luck.

Plan for PEACE

Saturday, December 8. 2007
smil3y

You gotta love Robin Williams......
Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for peace. So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those "good ole boys", we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany , South Korea , the Middle East , and the Philippines They don't want us there, anyway. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, reg ardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will w elcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available
to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort
to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilde rness. The caribou will have to cope for a while

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go someplace else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8-) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "int erfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them is stolen or given
to the army. The people who need
it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island someplace. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it..or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

"The Statue of Liberty is no longer
saying "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses." She's got a baseball bat and she's yelling, 'you want a piece of me?' "

Rules for the phone

Thursday, December 6. 2007
smil3y

I have no problem at all with LEGAL immigrants, thats what made this country what it is today. United States citizenship or visas for people that reside on foreign soil should require that all be FLUENT in ENGLISH prior to stepping foot in the United States!! I am so done with corporate automated answering services with the first statement being "press one for english"?? Do we NOT live in the United States?

How ALL business phones SHOULD be answered!

GOOD MORNING, WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA .

Press "1" for English.

Press "2" to disconnect until you learn to speak English

And remember only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:

Jesus Christ

and the American Soldier.

One died for your soul,

the other for your freedom.
